Architecture: Pine Brook Hills Remodel

Set on a sloping site in Boulder’s Foothills, this home was originally built in the 1990’s and functioned as a duplex for the original owners, a mother and daughter. Complete with two kitchens and multiple bathrooms, the home was in no way tied to its surrounding landscape, nor was it livable in its current state.

The site is replete with views of the surrounding foothills and heavily treed, providing a serene atmosphere that was all but ignored by the original home.

The design concept was guided by the desire to bring the outside in while converting the hectic and cluttered floor plan into an open and spacious single family dwelling organized around a centrally-located open steel and wood stair.
